Kashmir honeymoon: checklist, fair price and best months

Everything to sort out before you book a Kashmir honeymoon. Short, honest and easy to read on your phone.

Best months

• Snow: December to February. Gulmarg is usually under snow.
• Green valleys and flowers: March to June, and September to October.
• Other months: ask us. We tell you honestly what the weather and roads are like for your dates.

5N/6D plan that works for couples

• Day 1: Srinagar. Houseboat night and a sunset shikara ride on Dal Lake.
• Day 2: Gulmarg day trip. Gondola ride (subject to weather), snow or meadows by season.
• Day 3: Drive to Pahalgam past the Pampore saffron fields.
• Day 4: Pahalgam. Betaab Valley, Aru Valley and Chandanwari.
• Day 5: Back to Srinagar. Nishat and Shalimar Mughal Gardens.
• Day 6: Airport drop.

Packing checklist

• Government photo ID for both of you. Hotels ask for it at check-in.
• Warm layers: thermals, a jacket, gloves and a cap. Evenings are cool even in summer.
• Comfortable shoes with grip. Snow boots and jackets can be hired at Gulmarg in winter.
• Sunglasses and sunscreen. Snow and lake light are bright.
• Lip balm, moisturiser and your regular medicines.
• A postpaid mobile number. Prepaid SIMs from other states usually do not work in Jammu & Kashmir.
• A power bank. Cold weather drains phone batteries faster.

Fair price guide: what a good quote includes

Our Kashmir Honeymoon starts at ₹32,900 per person (twin sharing, 5N/6D, 4-star hotels, daily breakfast, private car, GST included). Whoever you book with, compare quotes on these points, not just the total:

• Hotel category for every night, and whether the houseboat is premium or standard.
• Meal plan: breakfast only, or breakfast and dinner.
• Private car for the whole trip, and the car type.
• Local union taxis: in Pahalgam, Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari are visited by local union taxi. Check whether this is included.
• Gulmarg Gondola tickets, pony rides and sledges are usually extra. Ask.
• GST shown on the quote and on the invoice.
• A very cheap quote usually leaves out one of the items above. Ask what is missing before you pay.
